Love is an Adventure

This blog is love. I have heard numerous metaphors of love such as : love is like fine wine, love is a fire, love is an exciting roller coaster ride, love is a book, and lastly, love is an adventure.

My favorite metaphor for love is that love is an adventure. This is my favorite metaphor because I think of it as most true. Like an adventure, love is unpredictable and you can’t know what to expect. There are unexpected turns and swerves and ups and downs. There are things that you have to overcome and get through and make sure the problems and difficulties along the way don’t let them stop and discourage you. Like an adventure, love is spontaneous and exciting. There are highs in a relationship, and lows in a relationship, just like there are good and bad things that happen in an adventure.

Anyone who has experienced an adventure is excited and craves more adventures. Like love, anyone who has had experience and has been in love craves love. When a person is done with an adventure, they seek out another. They aren’t contempt with just living a boring life with no adventure. They need something extra in their life that creates excitement. One who has been in love is saddened without it, and want it back. They feel as if something is missing from their life, and they need love to create the excitement in their life. An adventurer craves adventure, just as a lover craves love.

Just as there are checkpoints and achievements in an adventure, there are waypoints in relationships. For example, an achievement in an adventure might be getting somewhere, or getting something. In a relationship, a waypoint or an achievement starts as asking someone out, or going on a date, and then eventually, getting married.  Just as one needs tools and materials to get through an adventure and accomplish their mission, one also needs things for love.

When one gets through an adventure, they get a nice reward, whether it is material good, or the sense of accomplishment. When one loves, the love itself is the reward. Everyone has their own adventure, and everyone loves someone different.

When one is going through an adventure, one does not know what to expect. There are always surprises. Some surprises are good, and some surprises are bad. This is just like love. One does not know what to expect, and in every loving relationship, there are surprises. Some surprises are pleasant and other surprises not so much. An adventure is full of excitement, and so is love. Through both adventures and love, one must be especially tough at times to get through hardship, but in the end, it is always worth it.
These are the reasons why I think love is an adventure. Out of all the different metaphors, this seems to be the most accurate and true to me. This is why I like this metaphor over all the other ones that I have heard.
